Little Whale Cove Environs

Little Whale Cove is a short two-hour trip from metropolitan Portland,
on the central Oregon coast.

Lincoln County

Lincoln County occupies a 55-mile strip of the Central Oregon coast, from Cascade Head in the north to Cape Perpetua on the south. A scenic flight over Lincoln County reveals its beauty in mountainous wooded terrain, steep ridges, winding inland valleys and ocean beaches. The County's population of nearly 40,000 clusters around the five coastal towns of Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Waldport and Yachats, with Newport being the county seat. Tourism, timber and fishing are predominant industries. The mild climate, beautiful scenery and the many recreational opportunities make Lincoln County a favorite retirement spot and a nice place to live and play.

Rand McNally rated this area on the Oregon Coast 2nd out of 107 places around America for its mild climate -- cool summers and temperate winters. Although there are definite seasons, temperatures seldom drop to freezing or reach 90 degrees. The average rainfall is 67 inches.
